The Icelandic Languagebank

The Icelandic Language Bank is Clarin’s Service Providing Centre (CLARIN B-centre). The Language Bank hosts and maintains all kinds of language resources, and provides advice and information on the development, description and storage of such resources. The Language Bank is operated by Árni Magnússon Institute of Icelandic Studies.

Icelandic K-centre

Although the main objective of CLARIN is to simplify access to language resources, there is also a strong emphasis on knowledge sharing. The role of a CLARIN Knowledge Centre (CLARIN K-centre) is to disseminate knowledge across specific areas. While some knowledge centres share information on a particular language, others specialise in specific resources or technologies (e.g. grammatical marking of texts or the development of large language models). In Iceland, the Árni Magnússon Institute and the Icelandic Language Committee have established a Knowledge Centre on Icelandic Language.
